I have nothing to say that the video can’t say better.  Loved it.

Just wanted to let you know that I’ve only got room for a couple more weddings in 2011.  In the event that I’m unavailable for your date feel free to contact me anyway and I’ll do my best to put in touch with some other really talented people.

This goes in my books as my first “steampunk” themed wedding. Also got to hang out with John Iiams. He does great photos. Check him out.

edit: I posted this pretty late last night hence the brevity of the original post. I just wanted to add a few more thoughts in bullet form.
1) Aloft hotel – very cool place. I think the wife and I are going to try to spend a friday night there and explore Town Center Plaza a bit
2) Terrace on the Green – another new place in town and I was super impressed with the manager/owner. A great venue for a wedding/reception
3) Ryan and Laura – can’t get cooler than this… they met at Berklee College of music, toured in a van, and had a steampunk theme for a wedding
4) Jonsi – I normally wouldn’t go with a track from a musician like Jonsi for a wedding but if you reference point number 3 Ryan and Laura were cool enough that I felt like I could use something a little less “traditional” than I normally would. Although I like to think most of the music I use isn’t “traditional” Jonsi is even less so.
5) Ryan and Laura – despite point #3 they are also extremely goofy… which makes them even more awesome

Rachele and Johnny were super fun to work with.  Their rehearsal dinner was a blast and best of all it was out in the countryside.  Growing up in the country and now living in Olathe I relish any opportunity I can to get out of Kansas City. Don’t get me wrong… I love Kansas City, but I love the openness of the countryside.

The actual wedding day was one of the hottest days of the year and Rachele and Jonny were real troopers.  You’d never know it to look at the footage, but it was one of those mid summer days where as soon as you open the door you get hit in the face with the humidity.  Luckily everything was out at the Hawthorne house which made it sooo much smoother to transition from ceremony to reception to photos etc…

Here’s a little teaser of Meg and Matt’s wedding.

It was a really fun wedding.  The rehearsal dinner was one of my favorites that I’ve been to.  I also got to meet a few new faces.  Jenny from the Bliss List was awesome to work with and did an amazing job of coordinating all of the events and keeping everything on track.  She’s been building a really cool brand over at blisslistkc.com where you can go to find all sorts of resources for weddings and premium vendors in the Kansas City area.  Check it out.

The photographers were also really easy to work with.  The guys from Blixt Photo just opened up a new studio as well so make sure to check them out.

This wedding was unique in a lot of ways.

First… I didn’t book it.  My friend (and fantastic photographer/videographer) Mike Varel did.  He unfortunately had a conflict that he couldn’t get out of, so he hired me to shoot the wedding for him.  This was my first wedding I’d ever shot as the lead shooter where I’d been hired by another videographer, instead of a bride and groom.  I was honored that he trusted me enough to have me shoot a wedding that he would ultimately edit and deliver with his name on.  Mike is doing the final edit, but he was nice enough to let me use some footage for my own website.

Second… I got to hang out with Isaac Alongi and his wonderful wife Sandra.  They were the photographers for the wedding and do amazing work. It was fun getting to know them and it always helps the wedding day go smoother when the photographers are talented AND enjoyable to be around.

Third… eight words: Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church.  This church was stunning.  I don’t know if I’ve shot a wedding in a more beautiful building.

Kate was a really fun bride to be around and has a very genuine personality.  It was a beautiful wedding and I wish the couple luck (and Mike since he’s editing all the stuff I shot!)

Here’s one of my favorite sections from the Overly Wedding. I went out with the guys the morning of the wedding and got some footage of them on the green. Also in this sequence is Alese getting her hair and makeup done and the first part of the ceremony.  They were the first to go with my new package, the Spielberg.

I’m passionate about a handful of things.  Two of those things are people and storytelling.
